Darren Blackstone Foote was born in 1978 in Melba, Idaho. He received his BA from Pacific Lutheran University, Washington, and his MFA from the Rhode Island School of Design. Foote completed the Whitney Independent Study Program in 2012. He was the 2011 Augustus Saint-Gaudens Memorial Fellowship grantee, the 2009/2010 recipient of the Jeanne Stahl-Webber Sculpture Scholarship, the RISD Graduate Studies Grant Award, and the S.L.Y. Herman Scholarship. Foote was awarded the Critic’s Pick Best Sculpture Exhibition by the New England Art Awards in 2009. His solo exhibition at DODGEgallery in 2012 was selected as one of the top 100 best international exhibitions to see Fall 2012. Foote has exhibited at international art fairs in Miami, New York, and Basel, Switzerland. His work is in the collection of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston. He is currently a Visiting Lecturer at Massachusetts College of Art. Foote lives and works in Brooklyn, NY.
